Growing up as a young Black man in the city of St. Louis, I became a product of the St. Louis Public Schools System. My humble beginnings inspired me to carve a bright pathway forward, and through my trials, I developed a deep passion for helping others, particularly those who look like me and share similar circumstances, where resources were scarce.
My commitment to service has been the underlying theme of my career. During my time in marketing at Sony PlayStation, I took the initiative to channel my passion for philanthropy into tangible action. With employees allowed one workday annually for community service, the Day of Service at PlayStation sparked my idea to merge gaming with philanthropy in a unique way. I utilized gaming as a vehicle to give back to public schools in my city, introducing the latest gaming technology for students of all grade levels. The excitement of the children was evident, and teachers took notice as I expanded gaming's reach within various school departments, from the Board of Education to parent-teacher conferences.
Over the years, I have forged countless relationships through the impactful medium of gaming, mentoring many young individuals and showing them that they can realize their greatest potential.
Realizing my purpose, I reached a pivotal moment in my journey. I wanted to give back authentically, without the constraints of someone else’s vision. This led me to establish the BGG Foundation, where we empower youth through gaming and create opportunities for growth and development.
A significant milestone in our journey was receiving a proclamation from the city of St. Louis, designating our own esports day. This recognition underscores our mission of merging brands, schools, and government into a unified space dedicated to empowering gamers and uplifting the entire community.
Today, I wholeheartedly dedicate myself to philanthropy through the BGG Foundation, ensuring that we continue to inspire and empower the next generation of gamers and leaders.
