Joshua, aka J Bird, has always identified as a gamer. From his earliest days as a child to his present life as an adult, he has been captivated by the imaginative and competitive nature of gaming. Joshua dedicated countless hours/days, weeks, months, and even years to honing his skills, competing against family and friends for the ultimate bragging rights.
Throughout his journey as a gamer, he became increasingly aware of the inspiring soundtracks and sound design of the games he played. This exposure played a significant role in his evolution into a music producer and artist. Drawing inspiration from the captivating sounds of video games, Josh began creating music, incorporating these elements into many of his songs. His passion and dedication have led him to garner millions of streams and travel across the country, all stemming from his identity as a gamer.
Growing up on the South Side of St. Louis, Joshua excelled at video games but lacked a platform to showcase his talents. This experience fueled his mission with the BGG Foundation. He recognized the importance of providing opportunities for young gamers to compete in tournaments, win prizes, and earn college scholarships. These experiences he wished he had during his childhood. Watching the students who compete in BGG's tournaments grow and achieve academic success through esports fills him with inspiration. Knowing that the organization plays a positive role in their development is one of the most rewarding feelings for Josh. He is committed to giving back to the community by providing a genuine vehicle and safe space for gamers to unite, socialize, and compete, all because he proudly identifies as a gamer.
